Contract Negotiation and Review

We have a new but growing energy and Natural Resources practice unit. We understand the legal issues and the particular needs of our clients’ businesses, in providing legal advisory services across the oil and gas sector value chain. We advise international and indigenous oil companies, project sponsors, service companies, and financial institutions on various matters including, divestitures and asset acquisitions, licensing and regulatory matters, equity, debt and structured financing, restructurings, taxation, corporate and project finance amongst others.

Our Lawyers are well versed in the operations of the upstream and downstream sectors of the Oil and Gas Industry. They have been involved in the drafting and reviewing of production sharing contracts and joint venture agreements between companies operating in the Sector. They have also been involved in the drafting charter party agreements for vessels carrying/lifting crude oil products.

Dispute Resolution

The firm prosecutes and defends litigation matters for its clients at all levels in courts and tribunals located in various states of Nigeria. The firm’s primary objective is to ensure that disputes arising from the business and commercial activities of clients are effectively resolved with minimum expenditure of time and resources. Our Dispute resolution team is made up of experts with requisite experience in the Firm’s other core practice areas. We well versed in in Debt Recovery practice and have successfully represented several banks and financial institutions as Recovery Agents including managing several high profile matters in this area. Our experience over the years has helped us garner useful strategies for effective debt recovery on behalf of our clients. Currently, we are retained by the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) as one of their external counsel and several local banks.

We provide our services here on a mutually agreed fee structure, determined on a case by case basis.

The firm is accredited with the Trademarks and Patents Registry in Abuja and has wide ranging experience in Intellectual Property Law and is strategically positioned to meet all your intellectual property needs.

We handle both the contentious and non-contentious sides of IP law and are trusted advisers to local and multinational corporates operating in different sectors for whom we manage IP portfolios and issues in a cost effective and efficient manner. We advice on registration of intellectual property rights, transfer and licensing arrangements, copyrights patents etc.

  • We were involved as advisers to a digital marketing company in negotiating the termination of a Content Partner Commercial Agreement.
  • Successfully obtained and executed Anton Piller injunctions in favour of international clients for the infringement of trademarks in a multimillion dollar dispute instituted at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
  • Currently coordinating the registration and renewal of several trademarks in Nigeria, OAPI and ARIPO Countries for a leading national agrochemical company with business interests in the West African sub region.
  • Successfully filed patent applications for a leading telecom’s operator in the country, for an application that runs on ios, android and other platforms.
